When you’re searching for RV camping in northwest Ohio that offers more than just a place to park your rig, Gilboa Quarry delivers a different kind of camping experience. Located at 3763 Old State Route 224 in Ottawa, Ohio—just 25 minutes from Lima and 30 minutes from Findlay.

For over 30 years, RV families, divers, full-timers, and weekend adventurers have discovered what sets Gilboa Quarry apart from typical RV parks in the region. While we’re known as the Midwest’s premier scuba diving quarry with depths reaching 140 feet, our RV camping experience welcomes everyone—whether you’re here to swim, dive, paddle, or simply enjoy a peaceful stay surrounded by water and woods.

Our RV sites sit alongside spring-fed quarry waters that typically maintain 30-40 feet of visibility, sometimes exceeding 80 feet depending on conditions. You’ll wake up to quarry views and the sounds of nature —a genuine escape to rural Ohio that typical RV campgrounds can’t match.

RV Camping Amenities & Site Features

We do our best to accommodate all RV campers by offering reservations available via Campspot. While we do our best to fit every RV, we recommend reserving your campsites in advance. Peak summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day) typically fill 2-3 weeks in advance, so early reservations help if you’re seeking a specific site. When you arrive, check in at the front office where our staff will help accommodate your RV size and hookup needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of RV hookups do you offer?

We offer two site categories. RV Park Sites feature both water and electric hookups (50-amp, 30-amp, and 110-volt) at each site for full-service convenience. Premium and Standard Sites offer electric hookups with on-site well water access for filling your fresh water tanks. All sites are back-in only (no pull-through). A dump station is available on-site and included in your overnight camping fee. For non-overnight guests, dump station access is available for $20.

What makes Gilboa Quarry different from other northwest Ohio RV parks?

Gilboa Quarry offers RV camping within a former limestone quarry featuring spring-fed water with 30-40 feet of typical visibility (sometimes exceeding 80 feet in ideal conditions). This contrasts with most Midwest lakes where visibility often measures 3-10 feet. You’ll camp alongside underwater attractions including sunken aircraft and helicopters, watch scuba divers training at depth, and enjoy swimming, kayaking, and snorkeling in exceptionally clear water. Our setting combines natural tranquility with activities unavailable at traditional area RV parks.

What size RVs can you accommodate?

We accommodate Class A, Class B, and Class C motorhomes up to 45+ feet, along with fifth wheels, travel trailers, pop-up campers, truck campers, and camper vans. All our RV sites are back-in configuration. Our staff at check-in will help accomodate your rig’s specific size and hookup needs. Be aware that we do not have pull-through sites.

Is RV camping suitable for families with young children?

Yes. Gilboa Quarry works well for family RV camping. We offer a designated swimming beach with clear depth marking and graduated entry, calm water without boat traffic, clean modern bathhouse facilities, and multiple activities including swimming, paddling, and wildlife watching. The quarry setting provides natural learning opportunities. Our environment accommodates families seeking both adventure and comfort.

Are dogs allowed at RV camping sites?

Yes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at our pet-friendly RV sites. All dogs must check in at the front office upon arrival and remain leashed when on land. Dogs can swim off-leash in designated areas, making Gilboa one of few area RV parks where canine companions can enjoy water activities alongside families.

Do I need to be a scuba diver to camp here?

No. While Gilboa Quarry is known as a premier dive training facility, RV camping welcomes everyone. Non-divers enjoy swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, wildlife watching, and relaxing by clear quarry waters. Many RV campers never dive but appreciate watching divers explore underwater attractions from shore or their kayaks. The quarry setting provides memorable experiences whether you’re certified to dive or prefer surface activities.

How do I reserve an RV site?

Reserve online through Campspot by clicking this link. Select your dates, choose an RV camping site based on your hookup needs (RV Park Sites with water/electric or Premium/Standard Sites with electric only), review options, and complete your reservation. During peak summer weekends, sites typically fill by 2-3 weeks in advance, so early reservations help. All RV campers must check in at the front office regardless of reservation status.

Can I use your dump station if I'm not camping overnight?

Yes! Our dump station is available to all RV travelers for $20 (non-overnight guests). If you’re staying overnight at Gilboa Quarry, dump station use is included in your camping fee at no additional charge. The dump station accepts both black and gray water and provides convenient service for RVers passing through the Lima/Findlay area on I-75 or exploring northwest Ohio.

Is Gilboa Quarry a good overnight stop when traveling to Lake Erie?

Yes. Many RV travelers choose Gilboa as a strategic stop between central Ohio or Indiana and Lake Erie destinations like Sandusky, Cedar Point, or the Lake Erie Islands. We typically offer a quieter, less crowded alternative to busy Lake Erie shoreline RV parks while providing water activities in consistently clear conditions. Our location just off I-75 makes us convenient for breaking up long drives, and our setting offers a different experience than typical highway-adjacent RV parks.

What time of year is best for RV camping here?

Each season offers different advantages. Summer (June–August) provides warmest water and peak swimming conditions but busier crowds. Spring and early summer (May–June) offer excellent water clarity, moderate temperatures, and fewer campers. Fall (September–October) delivers autumn foliage, comfortable daytime weather, cool campfire evenings, and peaceful atmosphere. We welcome RVers year-round, though some services may be limited in winter months. Check our visitor passes page for seasonal schedules or contact us to plan your visit.

Strategic Stop for Lake Erie Travelers

Planning a trip to Sandusky, Cedar Point, the Lake Erie Islands, or other northern Ohio destinations? GilboaQuarry offers a midpoint stop with advantages over Lake Erie shoreline campgrounds:

Why travelers choose Gilboa:

Typically less crowded – Especially compared to peak-season Lake Erie campgrounds

Quieter setting – Natural quarry environment vs. busy tourist corridors

Different water experience – Crystal-clear quarry vs. Lake Erie’s variable conditions

Convenient break point – Ideal for splitting long drives from central Ohio or Indiana

Competitive value – Comparable pricing with distinctive amenities

Many families use Gilboa as a base camp for exploring northwest Ohio, visiting Lake Erie one day and localattractions the next, while returning each evening to peaceful quarry camping.
