The Benefits of Yoga
Yoga is a traditional practice that is millenia old. In the trenches of the world it is still preserved by some in its pristine form. The goal of yoga is to make a person aware of their mind and body and increase that awareness with practice and patience. A by-product of a mindful practice is a pliable body and a peaceful mind. With a consistent and mindful practice of yoga one can improve their lung capacity, deepen their breathing, improve organ function, joint mobility, build muscle and also lose weight. If practiced correctly, yoga has the ability to cure ailments related to mind, movement, and improper organ function.
Why Divers Choose Yoga
Scuba diving, freediving, and other water activities require a healthy body and relaxed mind. Several accomplished practitioners of these activities apply yoga in their training in some form to improve their skills and abilities in their sport. Yogic breathing can not only improve your air consumption under water but also condition your body and mind to perform better and respond calmly. Come join us in this journey of practicing yoga and preparing for your Scuba diving experience at Gilboa Quarry.
Meet The Instructors
Rocky Gupta
Rocky started practicing yoga in 2001 and in the last 24 years has steadily grown his practice. In the initial years he practiced under the watchful and seasoned eyes of his teacher. Then he continuously developed his own deeper practice by drawing from his own experience and wisdom. Once he established enough depth in his own practice, he started sharing it with others. He has been teaching yoga for over a decade and helping people discover and cultivate the art of mental and physical health. He currently teaches all around Columbus and conducts yoga workshops both in the US and abroad. His students include people of all ages and abilities from teenagers to people in their 70s and 80s, from those who work office jobs to elite athletes who are working on finding peace, health, and improvement in life and what they do.
